Your files never leave your device
PataPage is built so that uploading is not possible: there is no server that receives your files. Here is how that works, and how you can check it yourself.
Where your file goes
Your device
You open a tool
You choose a file
Your device does the work
You save the result
Typical upload-based site
- Your file leaves your device
- A server processes it
- A copy may be stored
PataPage
- Your file opens in your browser
- Your device processes it
- Nothing is sent anywhere
How it works
- 1
You open a tool
Your browser downloads the tool's code, the same way it loads any web page. That is the only thing that travels over the internet.
- 2
You choose a file
The browser lets the page read the file from your device. It is copied into your browser's memory, not sent anywhere.
- 3
Your device does the work
The code runs on your own processor, in the background, so the page stays smooth while it works.
- 4
You save the result
The finished file is built in memory and handed to you as a normal download. Close the tab and every trace is gone.
What that means for you
- No copy of your file exists on anyone else's computer.
- No account, so nothing links a file to you.
- It is fast, because there is no upload or download wait.
- After a tool has loaded once, it keeps working without a connection.
Check it yourself
- 1
Try airplane mode
Open a tool, switch your device to airplane mode, then process a file. It still works, which would be impossible if it needed a server.
- 2
Watch the network
Open your browser's developer tools (F12), choose the Network tab and process a file. You will see the page's code load, but no request that carries your file.
- 3
Look at what loads
Only code, fonts and a few images are downloaded. Your document never appears in the list.
What we do and don't collect
We never receive your files, their names, their contents or any password you type. PataPage does not use analytics or tracking scripts of its own.
Your preferences, such as theme, language and cookie choice, are stored in your own browser. If you accept cookies, Google AdSense may set its own cookies to show ads. You can change your choice at any time from the footer. Read more in our cookie policy.
One thing to know: sending a file to the next tool
When you choose “Do more with this file” after a tool finishes, your result is kept for a moment in your browser's own storage so the next tool can pick it up. It is removed as soon as the next tool opens it, and cleared if you load any tool page without continuing. It never leaves your device.
Honest limits
Because your device does the work, very large files can be slow on older phones. Some tools change a file on purpose: Compress lowers image quality to save space, and its Maximum level turns pages into pictures. Password-protected PDFs have to be unlocked before they can be processed. PataPage cannot read text from scanned pictures yet.
Frequently asked questions
Do you really never upload my files?
Really. There is no upload feature and no server that accepts files. The code runs in your browser and the file stays in its memory.
Why is it faster than other sites?
Other sites have to send your file to a server, wait for it to be processed and download the result. We skip both trips.
Does PataPage work offline?
Yes, once a tool has loaded in your browser. Load it once while online, then it keeps working without a connection.
What happens to my file when I close the tab?
It is cleared from your browser's memory. Nothing was stored anywhere else.
Can someone at PataPage see my documents?
No. We never receive them, so there is nothing for us to see.
