How to sign a PDF on your phone

3 min readUpdated October 13, 2026

A form lands in your inbox and needs a signature by this afternoon. You do not need a printer or an app. Your phone's browser is enough, and the document never has to leave your phone.

Sign a PDF in a few taps

  1. 1

    Open Sign PDF

Use Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android. Nothing to install.

  2. 2

    Choose your PDF

Tap Choose file and pick the document from Files, your downloads or your cloud drive.

  3. 3

    Create your signature

Tap Create signature and draw with your finger. You can also type your name or upload a photo of a signature on paper.

  4. 4

    Place it

Tap Use signature, then drag it onto the line. Use the corners to make it bigger or smaller.

  5. 5

    Add the date

Tap Add date, then drag it into place. Use the Text tool for your printed name.

  6. 6

    Save and share

Tap Save signed PDF. The file downloads to your phone, ready to attach to an email or message.

Tips for a signature that looks right

  • Turn your phone sideways for more room to draw.
  • Draw slowly and use the full width of the pad.
  • If it looks wobbly, press Clear and try again.
  • Zoom the page with the browser before dragging, if the line is tiny.

Is it valid?

Adding an image of your signature is accepted for many everyday documents, such as forms and permission slips. Some contracts and authorities need a certified digital signature or a particular service, and the rules differ by country. If in doubt, ask the person who sent the document. This is not legal advice.

Your signature stays private

The signature is drawn and stored only in your browser while the page is open. It is not uploaded or saved, so you will draw it again next time.
